The Perry & Co. 2009 Agent Interview: Carla Bartell
Perry & Co. Broker Associate Carla Bartell was interviewed on 8/17/09.
How many years have you been in real estate?
Six – all with Perry & Co.
How long have you lived in Denver?
37 years.
What was your background before you got into real estate?
TV journalism / News Reporter / Anchor.
How does your level of experience benefit your clients?
Growing up here and knowing the neighborhoods is a huge plus. I’ve handled so many different kinds of real estate deals that I know the experience with each one will come back to benefit my future deals.
What organizations do you volunteer for?
I’ve volunteered for, and sat on the boards of: Jewish Family Services, The Allied Jewish Federation, the Rose Women’s Board. And, I’ve volunteered for CultureHaus at the Denver Art Museum, as well as Graland Country Day School and Herzl Jewish Day School.
What sets Perry & Co. apart from other real estate companies?
The personalized attention of a boutique firm, as well as, the friendly and helpful atmosphere within the company can only be a positive for any client.
What are your favorite hobbies?
Tennis, skiing, traveling, reading, cooking – plus family activities and trips.
What neighborhood(s) do you know particularly well?
Most of Central Denver, but particularly, Hilltop, Crestmoor, Lowry, Belcaro, Country Club, and Cherry Creek.
What area(s) of real estate would you say you are your area(s) of expertise?
So many different areas that I’ve worked: From first-time homebuyers and small condos to empty nesters and large estates.
Describe your typical day showing property?
I usually pick up my clients and give them a handout that I’ve prepared with all the listings that we’ll see… both photos and descriptions. We will see up to 5 or 6 properties at a time. I don’t like to show more than that since they become a blur to them. Sometimes we’ll stop for refreshments!
How many listings do you have at any time? And what kind of support do you have to handle your business?
I currently have 4 listings, and I’ve had as many as 8 and as few as 1. But either way, I have a great assistant and some good systems that I’ve set up to stay on top of all the details.
What modes of communication do you prefer to use to connect with your clients?
I think email and the telephone… a combination of both are the best ways to keep in touch before, during and after a transaction.
Tell me a little bit about your family, and the neighborhood you live in?
My husband and I have three children (10, 13, and 16). We live in Crestmoor park.
