Dam West was built by Writer Homes from 1970-1973. Denver native George Writer built nearly 10,000 homes in Colorado and was known for his exceptionally well planned communities. The Dam West is no exception, with Polton Community School, 24 acres of green belts throughout the neighborhood, all of the amenities combined with Writer’s architectural style, the community is timeless.
Timeless? The proof is in the numbers of second generation buyers moving back to the Dam West. With this most recent Perry & Co closing at 2888 S. Oakland Cir E, there are now nine buyers that were raised in the neighborhood that have moved back (sure says something about the fond memories we must all have). Being located in the highly desirable Cherry Creek School District, makes this a great family neighborhood. In addition to the award winning schools, the neighborhood pool, tennis courts, club house, Easter Egg hunt, and July 4th celebration contribute to the attractiveness of the Dam West neighborhood. Extremely close to many transportation arteries; I-225, Parker Road, the 9-Mile Light Rail Station plus the Cherry Creek State Park Recreation area.
My family and I moved back to the Dam West last year, the schools, pool and central location were the main reasons. So, I’m happy to be a second generation resident as well. If you need any assistance in the Dam West, real estate or otherwise, please don’t hesitate contacting .

Neither cold, nor wind, nor predictions of snow kept away the crowds when Perry & Co. hosted its annual holiday lights celebration on the evening of December 3rd at the Denver Zoo’s Wild Lights. Over 1400 guests, a good portion of them children, were exuberant over the 150 animal-themed light displays set up all around the 38 acres of the Denver Zoo. “This is one of our favorite traditions,” said Don Larrance, President of Perry & Co. “We get to host a party at the Zoo with our clients and meet their families and friends. It’s become one of our favorite events, it’s truly a good time for people of all ages.”
Perry & Co. rents the entire zoo facility for the party and offers hot cocoa and cider and holiday cookies inside the Gates Center’s Norgren Hall so guests can warm up before heading out into the night. Themed and animated lights dot the landscape and create surprises around every corner as visitors strolled the zoo’s paths. Santa usually stops by for a visit and the little ones know to come with their lists in mind. Twirling in the dark on the decorated old-fashioned carousel is a favorite of children and their parents alike.
For Perry & Co. Agents it’s a great way to deliver holiday greetings to clients and potential clients. Some agents even invite people who live in their farm areas or their children’s classmates. The staff is encouraged to invite friends and family, too. “I love to invite my vendors to this event as well,” said Lorrie Grillo, Director of Marketing. “It’s a way of saying “thank you” to them for their great service to our company over the past year.”

On Friday, November 7th, I put 1682 S. Lafayette on the market for $255,000, and by Monday I had three second showings. The following day, Tuesday, I received a solid offer and by Thursday the 13th, we had an executed contract!
During these challenging economic times, nothing is more important than competitive pricing, marketing, and presenting the best possible product. I credit the quick sale of this property to its strong central Denver location and our competitive price. If you aren’t familiar with the wonderful Platt Park Neighborhood, you should check it out! Not only is the neighborhood in a great south central location, but it’s right smack in the middle of Denver’s Old South Pearl Street neighborhood, with the famed Sushi Den, Mulberries Cake Shop, as well as, a whole host of additional shops and restaurants. In addition, 1682 S. Lafayette is also just a hop, jump, and a skip from The Louisiana Station Light Rail Stop. Come check out this vibrant neighborhood and you to will find out why houses priced correctly in a challenging are still selling.

The weather was perfect on Wednesday night, a cool and windless 60 degrees, when Perry & Co. Real Estate Professionals hosted their first Positive Attitude Appreciation Party. The party was organized by Perry agents Gina Cornelison and Susan Mathews in order to thank agents from other Metro Denver companies for showing Perry & Co listings. Area agents were invited to celebrate at the Cherry Creek North office because they were the sort who continued to work hard, when it might have been easier to hardly work.
“We appreciate the cooperation of our competitor companies, and as such we wanted to applaud them for staying upbeat in a down market,” said company Vice President Jon Larrance. About 60 real estate agents attended the event and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres provided by Kay Sweigart of Security Title Guaranty Co. Most of the talk that night seemed to center around last week’s election and the Denver market rebounding.
Perry & Co. President Don Larrance stated the next day that, “Our agents should feel honored, one sentiment that I heard over and over was what a pleasure it is to do business with Perry & Co. Outside agents have trust that a transaction with a Perry agent will be handled professionally, smoothly and they trust that deadlines will be consistently met.”
The contingent of positive agents must have attracted the balmy, unseasonably warm weather too, as the next day the first snow of the year fell on Denver.
